DATABASE APPROACH FOR STABILIZING CLINICAL DECISIONS IN THE SETTING OF CHRONIC ILLNESS.

Stabilizing clinical decisions can be aided by incorporating outcome data into treatment decisions. Feedback of outcome data can be managed manually for acute illnesses. When the time between intervention and outcome becomes long as in chronic disease, the feedback loop is compromised. A computer aided system has been developed to enhance the perception of intervention-outcome pairs. The system acts as a time-lapse photographic process, matching the course of slowly changing events to our sensory inputs. Several examples demonstrating the use of this tool are presented.
