An investigation was conducted into the refractory period of the DiFrancesco-Noble (DN) membrane model for Purkinje fibers. The results show that the DN model reproduces refractory period properties of real tissue like: supernormality, supernormal conduction and the strength-interval curve. These results suggest that the DN model will be a useful membrane model in the simulation of situations where the properties of the refractory period are crucial.
