Studies the behaviour of isolated holes and slots in wind tunnel walls. Uses a potential flow approach to determine the pressure differential/flowrate relationship for various hole planforms in high speed subsonic flow. For low aspect ratio planforms, results agreed with those from slender body theory. Differences from the lifting wind problem are indicated. Extends the analysis to include the effect of an inviscid rotational power law boundary layer over the hole by using a shear flow aerodynamics kernel function. The effect of the boundary layer was determined, noting that the wall boundary layer tends to reduce the flow resistance coefficient. (from authors' abstract)
