1. 1. Biochemical and histochemical studies of the effect of reserpine on dopamine levels in nervous-system tissue of Aplysia californica were performed. 2. 2. High-pressure liquid chromatography measurements revealed that reserpine treatment dramatically reduced ganglionic dopamine levels. 3. 3. The impressive biochemical changes in dopamine content due to reserpine were not accompanied by a change in the pattern or intensity of nervous-system tissue histofluorescence. © 1981.
