Pharmacoeconomics and practice guidelines: Moving toward value-based care

Pharmacoeconomic studies have become important in the consideration of the cost effectiveness of drug therapy. Practice guidelines can be effective at reducing cost and sustaining savings when applied to anesthesia practice. Value-based care should be controlled by those instrumental in delivering that care.
