Most human cancers possess tumor associated antigens (TAA) which are not detectable on the patient's normal cells. Cancer immunotherapy seeks to utilize an enhanced immune response directed against these TAA to eradicate an already established malignancy. While immunotherapy has not been widely used in childhood cancers, its use in combination with conventional therapy, particularly in acute leukemia, has yielded promising results.
