The embedded optical interconnections using separately grown and fabricated heterogeneously integrated thin film lasers were discussed. Each device used was seprately grown and fabricated on the growth substrate. The measured data showed the first embedded optical interconection system using a heterogeneously integrated thin film laser. The integration of fully embedded optical interconections in electrical interconnection substrates was also elaborated.
