This paper presents a definition of acceptable risk and explains how decision analysis could be used to determine ″How safe is safe enough?″ Practical limitations to the potential of decision analysis are then summarized. It discusses acceptable risk as a decision problem, setting acceptable risks using decision analysis, and other aspects of the subject.
