This is the first in a series of "Focus On" columns that will appear in the journal from time to time. Each column will present an overview of an academic center, not-for-profit organization, or public-private partnership in the health care domain. The Cardiac Safety Research Consortium and the DIA share a keen interest in regulatory science and a broad spectrum of medical products, and, as noted at the end of the column, the two organizations are currently enhancing their relationship by sponsoring sessions at our upcoming DIA Annual Meeting in Chicago this summer. I am therefore very pleased that Mitchell Krucoff, MD, FACC, Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center and Cochair of the consortium's executive committee, has contributed this column. © 2011 Drug Information Association, Inc.
