The feasibility of using posterior drainage devices to minimize micromovement extraocular muscles and tissues which could lead to scar formation or slow healing in glaucoma patients was evaluated. Experiments were performed wherein fibrous capsule anterior and posterior to the plates of the modified implants was thinner than the capsule around the unmodified, control plates. The numbers of macrophages within the fibrous capsules surrounding the modified plates were lower than the number of cells surrounding the controls.
