Spitting is a rare neurological complaint. Alimentary automatisms are a common part of temporal lobe epilepsy and usually manifest as chewing and swallowing. We report compulsory spitting as an ictal manifestation in three patients suspected of having temporal lobe epilepsy. © 1994.
