The quantitation of free short chain (C//2-C//8) monocarboxylic acids (FFAS) in physiological fluids is difficult. This is due primarily to adsorption of these extremely polar compounds on glassware, GC injector and column surfaces. In an attempt to overcome these difficulties, simple methods for analysis of FFAS has been developed using recent advances in technology.
