One hundred and two cases of isolated fracture of the shaft of the ulna were treated in a prospective manner. Ninety-nine fractures were closed, and three were open. No fracture was manipulated; all patients were treated in below elbow plaster casts. The average period of immobilization was 24 days. In this series there was no further displacement of the fracture, no malunion and no nonunion.
