Describes a program of school mental health consultation in which the consulting team initiates the program rather than responding to invitation. Such a requirement entails developing sanctions to consult, obtaining points of entry into the consultee's system, and devising flexible operating approaches. The program focuses on the importance of preventive mental health, continuous rather than short-term orientation, and the consultant as a helper rather than an administrator within the system.
