Over a period of eighteen months, the authors have evaluated a Philips Computed Radiography (PCR) system coupled with a network of display workstations. Portable chest radiographs in the cardiac care unit are routinely made using the PCR system, and the imaging network makes the images available for softcopy viewing at one or more workstations, simultaneously with PCR hard copy production. An account is given of the evolution of the PCR/imaging network installation, and system enhancements and modifications are discussed, including integration with the Imaging Physics Laboratory research network.
