This paper traces the development of superior imaging techniques from the introduction of diagnostic ultrasound, to computerized tomographic scan, and, finally, to magnetic resonance imaging. It also discusses the change in the role of radiology from diagnosis to treating a variety of disease processes ranging from intra-abdominal abscess to renal artery stenosis.
