This volume re-examines the topic of economic growth in Europe after WWII. Specialist contributors provide new theoretical approaches to the subject, utilising the experience of the 1980s. The analysis is largely based on applied economics and economic history. Emphasis is given to the presentation of chronological and institutional detail. The introductory chapters explore general European institutional arrangements and historical evidence. The case study papers are presented from the national case study approach. Individual chapters cover Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and the UK. The book attempts to shed new light on the economic experience of Europe, based on new insights that have not emerged under previous studies of the post-1960 period. -after Publisher
