Amanda C Wetsel
Lecturing Fellow of Thompson Writing Program

I am a cultural anthropologist interested in infrastructure, ecology and (post)socialism.  I have conducted over thirty months of fieldwork in Kyrgyzstan since 2011.  My current research examines collaborations between organizations in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to engage ecological issues including air pollution, tree cutting, rising temperatures, lack of water, and the reduction of urban green spaces.  My earlier research explored how Bishkek residents acquire and maintain homes and connect those homes to systems of electricity, water, and natural gas.

Prior to beginning my doctoral training, I taught in the US, Crimea, Yemen, South Korea and Kyrgyzstan.
