Overview
Amelia Gay is a graduate student in the Digital Art History/Computational Media M.A. program at Duke University. In May 2026, she graduated with dual B.A. degrees in History and Journalism from the University of South Carolina, where she continues to pursue her MLIS virtually. Her academic interests lie primarily within American Southern history, particularly social histories of gender, class, and race. She is especially interested in how visual media, including photography, journalism, film, and digital archives, shapes public memory, political movements, and historical understanding across these areas of study.
Her work combines interests in digital humanities, public history, and cultural heritage with a focus on how emerging technologies can make historical materials more accessible and engaging for broader audiences. Through her research and professional experiences, she has developed a strong interest in the relationship between storytelling, visual culture, and historical scholarship. She is particularly drawn to interdisciplinary approaches that connect historical research with computational methods and public engagement.
