Overview


Anqi Yan earned her undergraduate degree at Haverford College and received her B.A. in the Growth and Structure of Cities from Bryn Mawr College. She went on to complete an M.A. in East Asian Studies at Yale University. Her research investigates the jadeite trade across Myanmar, China, and Thailand from the late Qing period to the present, exploring how extraction practices are historically and spatially intertwined.

Her interests include materiality, historical anthropology, extraction, protection, and mobility.
