Brahma Mulugu
Research Scientist

Current Research Interests

My specialization is in immunology and immunogenetics, with the current focus on neuroimmune, neurolymphatic, neurovascular, and neuroendocrine systems. My graduate work on genetic predisposition to disease susceptibility and response to treatments opened up the understanding that no two individuals are alike or respond the same way. My postdoctoral training and research experiences span over 25 years in various fields studying the cellular organelles mobilizing inter, intracellular signaling, activating or inhibiting protein targets and the involvement of ligands and receptors in this process inspired me to promote an integrated approach in understanding the interdependence of entities at the cellular, molecular, and organ level. My current research focuses on neuroimmunological responses to chemical, biological, environmental exposures, and the individual response to pharmacological interventions. Identifying the right diagnostic biomarkers may provide therapeutic resolution.
