Overview

Caleb King is a PhD student in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament in the Graduate Program in Religion.
His work focuses on biblical exegesis, combining linguistic study with close literary and historical argumentation. His current interests center on literary presentations of the prophetic role in the Hebrew Bible, biblical poetics, and understanding the role of legal fiction in the HB.
His undergraduate dissertation at Harvard College, which won the Fay Prize, built a theoretical framework for understanding soundplay in biblical poety by exploring how we can go beyond our own phonlogical limitiations when studying ancient poetry.
His master's work at Cambridge University documented the Romaniote Pronunciation tradition of Greek Jews, using innovative acoustic methods both to document a critically endangered tradition of Hebrew and demonstrate its value in understanding historical Hebrew phonology.
