Emmanuelle Chiocca is an Assistant professor of Applied Linguistics and International Education in the Language and Culture Center at Duke Kunshan University. Her primary intellectual interest lies in holistic global and intercultural learning. More specifically, she researches how learning experiences result in the transformation of student worldviews, and how people change perspectives in international education contexts, especially in translingual environments. As a second related line of research, she investigates metacognition and motivation associated with experiential learning and virtual exchange in languaculture courses. She is currently co-writing a piece with Dr. Zhang Xin on the motivation of international students to attend joint-venture universities in China, working on a manuscript on elementary languaculture students’ video eTandem experiences, and co-leading with Dr. Stephanie Anderson (and their respective students) an interdisciplinary, multilingual, and multimodal project on writing stories for children.
