Dr. O'Brian is part of a team that developed a 3-year curriculum for pediatric residents focusing on teamwork and the medical resuscitation of pediatric patients.
In conjunction with a pediatric orthopedist, Dr. O'Brian developed a 4-week curriculum for the pediatric residents on this new elective.

Development of assessment tools and methods
- BASIC QI project: Together with pediatric ID and hospital medicine, we developed an evidence-based protocol for the evaluation and treatment of pediatric UTIs, SSTIs, and pneumonia. Duke University Medical Center. 2020-2022
Special Training
Teaching for Equity Fellowship: The Teaching for Equity Fellowship (TFEF) is a year-long series of workshops that give faculty tools to better engage all students in our classrooms and learning spaces. The workshops are specifically designed to address a number of teaching and mentoring topics that arise around race and identity.
