Sara Mattavelli
Instructor of Romance Studies

Sara Mattavelli holds a Ph.D. in Italian Studies with a Minor in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a laurea magistrale in Language Sciences and Foreign Literature from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan (Italy). Her research interests include second language acquisition, literacy-based approaches to L2 instruction, contemporary Italian literature, and gender studies. She has previously taught at Scripps College (CA), the University of Virginia, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and William & Mary (VA). She is the regional representative of the American Association of Teachers of Italian for the South/Southeast area.
