Overview
Shealyn Fraser is a second-year PhD student in the Department of History at Duke University. Her research interests include Black women and gendered history with a focus on 18th-century colonial New England. She is also the Co-Director of the Black Reproductive Justice Archive, which conducts oral histories with individuals on the front lines of the Black maternal health crisis. Before starting at Duke, Shealyn was a Research Assistant at the John W. Kluge Center of the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. to Dr. Tamika Nunley, examining enslaved Black women's knowledge of the law and reproductive rights. She received her Bachelor's and Master of Arts in American Studies from George Washington University.
