Sean E. Andrussier
Clinical Professor of Law (Teaching)

Sean Andrussier directs Duke's Appellate Litigation Clinic, which handles federal appeals through briefing and argument. He also teaches Appellate Practice and has taught Legal Analysis, Research and Writing.

Before joining the Duke Law faculty, Andrussier was co-chair of the appellate practice group of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP, a 500-lawyer law firm operating in six states and the Washington, D.C. His practice concentrated on constitutional law, appellate practice and procedure, and complex civil litigation. Before joining that firm, Andrussier was an appellate lawyer in Washington, D.C., where he worked with Theodore B. Olson (42nd Solicitor General of the United States) in the Appellate and Constitutional Law practice group of Gibson Dunn and Crutcher LLP. Earlier he practiced with Hogan & Hartson LLP (now Hogan Lovells), also in Washington. He clerked for Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and Judge M. Blane Michael of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Andrussier serves on the Appellate Rules Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association, which crafts proposed amendments to the state's rules of appellate procedure. He is also a member of the Council of Appellate Lawyers and of the Appellate Judges Conference of the American Bar Association.

Andrussier received his J. D. from Duke Law School in 1992, where he served on the editorial staff of the Duke Law Journal and was awarded membership in the Order of the Coif.
