Antong Liu received his LL.B. in International Politics and Sociology at Peking University (2012) and M.A. in Political Science at Duke University (2014). As a political theorist, he receives training in modern history of European political thought and takes interest in a variety of topics including political ethics, political passions, and non-ideal political theory. In his dissertation project (in progress), he investigates the relationship between honor and disrespect and argues that a modernized honor abstracted from the writings of Smith, Rousseau, and Kant can provide individuals with precious incentives to fight against disrespect in a principled way. He is also interested in exploring the idea of honor in non-Western traditions.
