Arya Alvernas is a 2022-2023 Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellow  at the Program in Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies at Duke University. She is a UGC-Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Cultural Studies, University of Kerala, where she studies gender and sartorial politics in nineteenth century Travancore, an erstwhile kingdom of Kerala. She received her BA and MA in English Language and Literature from the University of Kerala. Her research interests include Gender Studies, Critical Theory, Cultural Studies, and South Asian studies.
