Overview


Dr. Brown is the Director of the Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner-Primary Care program at Duke University School of Nursing. She initially joined the School of Nursing faculty in 2020 and has served as a clinical and course instructor. Dr. Brown is also appointed with the Duke University Health System and practices at The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Oncology Nursing Society and The Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology.

Dr. Brown earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University, along with a music minor, in 2010. She received a Master of Science in Nursing in 2014 from Duke University School of Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2018 from Duke University School of Nursing. Dr. Brown is an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner.

Dr. Brown has a strong interest in managing the complex primary care diagnoses in patients who are undergoing cancer therapies. She is also interested in advocating for cancer screenings and early detection of cancer in the primary care setting. She values the importance of providing a comprehensive and patient centered approach to healthcare while providing education to patients and empowering them to actively participate in their care.
