Overview
I am a PhD student in the Molecular Genetics and Microbiology program at Duke University. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Biology at Winthrop University in 2023.
I have affiliated with the Gusa Lab, and my project is focused on environmental fungal samples collected post-flooding events due to Hurricane Helene. Here we hope to identify secondary metabolites being secreted from these fungal isolates and eventually, link the metabolites to biosynthetic gene clusters. Ultimately, we hope to identify bioremedial functions (i.e plastic degrading) of these metabolites.
