Mr. McCalley is Vice President and General Counsel of Printpack Inc., a privately-held manufacturer of flexible packaging based in Atlanta. Prior to joining Printpack, he served, for 16.5 years, in a variety of positions with The Coca-Cola Company, most recently as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. Prior to this position, he was General Counsel Europe (based in London) where he was responsible for the legal affairs for CCE's bottling operations in France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and Great Britain and was also head of the European crisis management team; as Assistant General Counsel (also based in London) was project manager for a major bottling company merger and provided legal support to Coke operations in thirteen countries. Prior to that, he was Division Counsel, Coca-Cola Germany (based in Essen), and Division Counsel, Coca-Cola Nordic and Eurasia, based in Oslo and working mostly in Scandinavia, the Baltics and Russia. He joined the Coca-Cola System in 1989 as Counsel, Coca-Cola N. E. Europe and Africa Group, based in Atlanta. Prior to that, he was a Foreign Service Officer, U.S. Department of State, serving in a variety of capacities in Washington, Bonn, London, and Belfast. Before that, Mr. McCalley was an associate with Alston and Bird, Atlanta, engaged in the practice of general corporate and commercial law, emerging growth companies, computer law, venture capital, foreign reverse investment, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. McCalley graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1974 with a B. A. in German, magna cum laude, and Phi Beta Kappa. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Bonn, Germany. He received his J. D. from Duke University School of Law in 1979. He was an articles editor for the Duke Law Journal, and held office in the DBA. Mr. McCalley enjoys fluency in German, reading and limited conversational abilities in Norwegian, reading ability in Dutch, and rudimentary French.
