Greg Burke

Adjunct Professor of Business Administration
Fuqua School of Business
16 E. Pearson St., Schreiber Center 516, Chicago, IL 60611

Overview

I am an assistant professor of accounting at the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago, located in downtown Chicago. I completed my Ph.D. in accounting at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, which I concluded with a two year visit at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. I maintain an active CPA license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

My research focuses on financial accounting issues, particularly those related to securities regulation/enforcement, financial reporting and disclosure, entrepreneurial finance, and corporate governance. Currently, I am particularly interested in the securities market promulgated by Regulation Crowdfunding. While my primary research method is empirical-archival, I have some projects that use experimental, survey, and analytical methods to better address research questions where archival methods are less appropriate.

I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and basic mathematics. I have also instructed new hire assurance associates at PwC as well as professionals at a start-up incubator.

Prior to graduate studies, I was a full-time member of Fairfield University's accounting faculty, where I taught financial and managerial accounting. Before teaching, I was an auditor for PwC in Boston, where I worked on asset management and employee benefit plan engagements. In between Fairfield and PwC, I was a year-long volunteer in Ecuador.

Outside of academia, I enjoy getting outside, doing a good DIY household project, and finding an unbeatable sale.
