Senior Lecturing Fellow
Robert M. Hart has taught the seminar on Mergers & Acquisitions since 2004. From 1986 until that time, he taught the Securities Regulation II seminar. He is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Alleghany Corporation, a New York based diversified international holding company. Prior to joining Alleghany in 1994, Mr. Hart was Co-chairman of the Corporate Department of the law firm of Donovan Leisure Newton & Irvine in New York, and his practice involved representation of public companies and financial institutions in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, public offerings, private financings, development of new financial products and other capital market related matters. He has served on the Federal Securities Regulation Committee of the American Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and is a member of the American Law Institute.
Mr. Hart received his J.D. in 1969 from Duke University School of Law where he served on the Duke Law Journal and was selected as a member of the Order of the Coif.
