Overview


His teaching interests at Duke Kunshan include integrating multimodal authentic materials and technology into CSL learning, as well as enhancing students’ intercultural communication awareness and competence in and beyond the classroom. 

Jiayuan holds a B.A. in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Xi’an International Studies University (2018 - 2022) and a Master of Education in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from the University of Hong Kong (2023, early graduation with Dean’s Honours List). 

Before joining Duke Kunshan, he taught Chinese Language and Literature at an international school in Hong Kong SAR, China (2024 - 2025). He was a Chinese Language Fellow at Williams College, USA (2023 - 2024), and he also taught online individual classes for Brown University, the University of Michigan, Brandeis University, and New York University (2019 - 2022). During his years of online teaching, he also coordinated first-year, second-year and fourth-year Chinese teaching plans.
