Medical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine
Medicine, Hospital Medicine
3643 N Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27704

Overview

Comprehensive, holistic medical practice and medical education is my primary goal of medical professional journey. So I chose my first residency as general surgery in Korea, worked as a general surgeon, tried not to take care of only specific organ or disease entity of the patient. I decided to come here in US to expand my career as a global physician, especially in primary care field. Hospital Medicine inspired me for future medical career during the residency training, so I have been working as a hospitalist since I completed Internal Medicine residency at LSU in Shreveport, LA. I will try to continue comprehensive patient care in the hospital setting at Duke.

For medical education, like any other medical professionals, I worked with medical students, interns and residents during the residency training era. I served as a chief resident during my last year of general surgery residency, held regular didactic sessions for medical students, hosted weekly department conferences, joined national academic conferences, and presented several articles.

I started my first medical professional career here in US as a hospitalist/clinical assistant professor in Internal Medicine at Ohio State University. Clinical duty was the main job activity at that time, but I supervised on call Family Medicine residents at night time, taught bedside critical care procedures to the newly added colleague hospitalists.

Since I joined Duke Hospital Medicine team in 07/2018, in addition to the clinical activity of inpatient care, I have been in educational responsibility of teaching and supervising Duke Internal Medicine residents, Duke Family Medicine residents, and Duke PA students.

My current educational goal is to assist young generation of medical trainees to become competent and well-rounded medical professionals in the future. I will continue to join educational meetings as a learner, teach and supervise residents and students with an effort of developing educational curriculum and didactic sessions.
