Joshua Strayhorn
Student
Greetings!
My name is Joshua Strayhorn. I am a doctoral student of history at Duke University. My research interests include 20th century African American history, specifically the Great Migration and its impact on the development of black communities. I am interested in how intraracial conflict emerges through social institutions such as churches, social clubs, and mutual aid societies throughout the course of the migration. Broadly, I am also interested in the migration of Afro-Caribbean migrants to the United States and thorughout the Caribbean and how they negotiated ideas of blackness depending on time and space.
