KC Bierlich

Kevin ("KC") is a PhD Candidate in the Marine Robotics and Remote Sensing Lab at the Duke University Marine Lab. KC's research has focused on developing drones as a tool to study the morphology and body condition of baleen whales to help monitor the health of populations in rapidly changing environments. This has included developing several open source photogrammetry tools to help researchers obtain accurate measurement from drone imagery. Most of KC's field work has taken place off the coast of California and the Western Antarctic Peninsula, studying blue, humpback, Antarctic minke, and Dwarf minke whales.
