Current Research Interests
My research interests are situated in the Anglophone Caribbean, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of race, gender, and resistance under slavery and freedom. My dissertation, supervised by Professor Barry Gaspar, examines the legal, political, and social implications of emancipation on enslaved and freedpeople in Barbados during the early and mid-nineteenth century. I also have scholarly interests in comparative slave systems, colonialism and empire; race and gender; citizenship and migration; state formation; and legal history of the British empire.
