Laura Bellows is a doctoral student at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. She is interested in the impacts of social policies on educational outcomes, as well as more broadly in the role schools play in social stratification. Her current research explores how recent increases in immigration enforcement affect educational disparities by immigration status and ethnicity. Prior to returning to graduate school, Laura served as a fourth grade teacher in Houston, a legislative aide in the Texas House of Representatives, and a research associate at the Child and Family Research Partnership at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Laura received her B.A. from Rice University in History and English and a Master’s in Public Affairs from Indiana University-Bloomington.
