Overview


Maria received her Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Makerere University in 2011. She earned her Master’s in International Economic Policy from the Paris Institute of Political Studies in 2014. Since then, she has held a variety of research positions including positions at the Embassy of France in Uganda, the Trade Facilitation Office in the Canada Department of Global Affairs, the BRICS Policy Center in Brazil, the Economic Policy Research Centre in Uganda and the University of Colorado Denver. Maria has also taught Ugandan Economy and International Business Economics at Makerere University Business School in Uganda. At Duke, Maria hopes to study the development and advancement of efficacy in institutions in the Global South, as it applies to Uganda and other countries.
