M. Elizabeth Deerhake

MD/PhD Candidate in Immunology

Current Research Interests

The innate immune system has both pathologic and protective functions across many neurologic disorders. My thesis research in the laboratory of Mari Shinohara, PhD is focused on understanding the diverse functions of innate immune signaling in a model of Multiple Sclerosis. My long-term goal as a physician-scientist is to understand the role of the innate immune system in neurologic disease with the goal of developing new therapeutic approaches and expanding our knowledge of neuro-immune interactions more generally.
