Matthew Hambro

I am a German teacher and PhD student in German Literature at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University. I graduated in 2010 with a B.A. in German from Lewis & Clark College and spent the next two years working in Austrian schools teaching about American culture and coaching conversational skills in English. Afterward I began studying in the Carolina-Duke German program, where I have published on religious justifications for moral belief in literature, lectured on comics and graphic novels, and provided design and publicity work for department events. I am currently working on a history of German comics and graphic novels that traces unique features in German illustrated narratives from the Early Modern to today. I have always enjoyed teaching and have had the pleasure of teaching language and literature courses in English and German from beginner to advanced levels.
