Overview
Nechama Huba is a PhD student in the Political Science Department advised by Professor David Siegel. She specializes in the subfields of Security, Peace, and Conflict as well as Political Behavior and Identity. Specifically, she researches the political psychology behind the development of extremism— both beliefs and actions— and the efficacy of strategies that democratic states employ to address it. Before beginning at Duke, Nechama graduated summa cum laude and with departmental honors from Wellesley College (2023) with a B.A. in International Relations and in Psychology, and she earned an M.A. in Political Science at Columbia University (2024). Her undergraduate honors thesis examined how economic and foreign policy crises contribute to the longevity of prime ministers in England and Israel. During her master’s degree, Nechama was a teaching assistant, where she taught classes in international relations. She has also worked for MIT’s Political Science Department, Wellesley’s Office of Institutional Research, the Israel Council on Foreign Relations, the World Jewish Congress, and most recently, the US Department of State in the Office to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism.
