Advising & Mentoring Summary


Duke OB/Gyn Mentor Program:
Mentored individual residents throughout their 4 year training most especially those interested in pursuing career in General Ob/Gyn. 2012-present

Duke Coaching Program:
Resident Coach Ob/Gyn:
Meet with resident on quarterly basis in program geared to facilitate wellness through interactive sessions. Have coached 4 residents. 

TOA committee:
Participant in committee which developed hospital system wide guidelines to standardize the management of Tubo-ovarian abscess. This was a multi-disciplinary effort with Gynecology and Interventional Radiology.

Standardization of Hysteroscopy:
Member of multi-disciplinary team with Anesthesia to develop new hospital system wide guidelines to standardize Operative Hysteroscopy to improve quality and safety for our patients. 

Methotrexate Task Force Facilitator:
Develop hospital wide protocol for management of PUL and use of methotrexate in PUL and ectopic pregnancy.
Developed consent specific for methotrexate use to enhance patient understanding of the medication. 

Mentored case report submitted to JMIG 3/2021. "Transvaginal Ovarian Cyst Drainage in Third Trimester to Faciliate Vaginal Delivery" Meljen, Avram, Kerner, Wheeler 

Advisor for General Obstetrics and Gynecology Oral Board Review: Fellows/Junior Faculty, 4-6 hours; yearly. Review case lists and provide realistic simulation and focused feedback to refine clinical reasoning and communication skills in preparation for board certification examination.

Vaginal Bleeding Pathway
Member of multidisciplinary committee including OBGYN and ED providers to developed streamlined guidelines to optimize care for patients presenting to the emergency department with vaginal bleeding.
