Nicoly Monteiro dos Santos
Nicoly Monteiro dos Santos is a Ph.D. student in the Romance Studies department at Duke University. Her research examines Latin American cinema, with a special interest in its intersection with anthropology, looking at surrealist and counter-ethnographic interventions. She is also concerned with issues of ideology, trauma, and first-person narratives in Latin America. She holds a BA in journalism from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in Brazil, having worked as a journalist for three years before moving to the US, and an M.A. in communication from Auburn University, where she conducted research on contemporary documentary production and politics of space.
