My name is Patrick Gray and I am a marine scientist, software engineer, and remote sensor with Dave Johnston in the Marine Robotics and Remote Sensing Lab. I'm particularly interested in remote sensing applications and semi-autonomous exploration systems that will be relevant for conservation of marine megafauna in extreme marine environments like the Southern Ocean as well as for exploring and understanding other ocean worlds within our solar system. Before my graduate work at Duke I worked with Dr. Pete Girguis at Harvard University as a research technician, at WayPaver Foundation as Chief Technology Officer, and at Moon Express as a software engineer.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina as a Morehead-Cain Scholar with a degree in Computer Science where I founded UNC SEDS, co-founded the Sigma Phi Society, researched computer vision in humanoid robotics.
