Advising & Mentoring Summary
An important role of a medical educator is that of a mentor. I believe it is essential to have open dialogues with mentees that promote trust and respect in a nonthreatening environment. It also is essential to provide mentees with clear goals and objectives, and to help them remain on task. I am currently the Chair of national Mentorship Committee of American Federation of Medical Research. I have had the experience of mentoring several residents and medical students as the residency program director and Vice- Chair of education at my previous institution.
