Overview


Dr. Shannon Byrne is a clinical associate in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.  She joined the Duke University Medical Center faculty in 2012, after completing an internship from Yale and a fellowship from the University of Connecticut Health Center. She earned her PhD in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2010.

Dr. Byrne provides outpatient therapy to adults, specializing in depression and anxiety. She also completed specialized training in behavioral medicine, and enjoys helping people with acute and chronic medical problems. Her approach includes cognitive behavioral and mindfulness strategies, and she helps individuals make changes in their thinking and behaviors to improve their quality of life. She strives to provide a safe space in which clients can feel comfortable discussing their challenges.
