Sherif started his master's studies at the University of Magdeburg in Germany. In 2012, he finalized his degree in cooperation with Karlsuhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where he started his doctoral studies afterwards with the focus on supercritical water gasification of biomass. Over the past six years, Sherif has been part of different research organizations including Max-Planck Institute and Fraunhofer Institute. He has engaged in several topics such as the growth modeling and cultivation of microalgae as well as biomass gasification under normal and supercritical conditions. His major interests are the exploitation of renewable feedstocks including waste streams for recycling natural resources, modeling and operating sustainable systems for energy production as an alternative to fossil fuels.
